The Queen of Peace Initiative is a women-led nonprofit working with indigenous pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya’s Ewaso Nyiro Ecosystem to build peace, resilience, and sustainable livelihoods. Rooted in local leadership, we address the interconnected challenges of climate change, conflict, poverty, and gender inequality—while protecting cultural identity and dignity.

The Non-Economic Loss and Damage (NELD) Kit

Climate change is causing losses that money cannot repair—culture, knowledge, social bonds, and the sacred connection between people and land.

QPI’s NELD Kit is a locally developed innovation that helps communities protect and restore these invisible losses. Built on trusted Village Savings and Loan Associations, the NELD Kit creates a permanent community fund—a sacred seed bank—dedicated to cultural preservation, ecological restoration, and peacebuilding.

By placing solutions in the hands of community members, the NELD Kit bridges grassroots action with global climate processes—redefining what climate resilience truly means.
